The Toodyay Race Club today announces that this year’s Toodyay Picnic Race Day will be held at Belmont Park, on Monday 26 September.
The Toodyay Race Club committee has made the difficult decision to not proceed with this year’s race meeting at the Toodyay Racecourse, scheduled for Sunday 25 September.
Toodyay Race Club Chair John Prater said the decision was made to allow the committee to focus on investing in a number of projects to improve the on-course facilities, with the plan to return to racing at the venue in 2023.
“This is a decision that has not been made lightly. The Toodyay races are an iconic event in the Avon Valley, bringing spectators from near and far to enjoy a unique country race day experience,” John said.
“However, there are improvements that need to be made at the racecourse and given the current building climate, we are not confident we would have these completed in time for our race meeting in September.”
“I would like to thank Perth Racing for hosting this year’s race meeting at Belmont Park and we look forward to coming back stronger than ever in 2023.”
